Lotus notes + windows98 overflow

The compay that I work for uses lotus Domino servers for notes (yes I know, crummy) and all the servers are running NT server with SP 5 and all the e-mails that come through the servers are Anti-V' Scanned. I was wondering if an attachment with the over-flow extension would crash or do anything to the NT servers ? Has anyone tried this ? I am very hesitant to try it as there would be a slight punishment issue if our Domino server died Again :-) Thankyou for any help !
