Just like radio stations shutting down at midnight or 1AM ... ;-)

Anyone recall the META-4 computer? It had a CPU clock speed dial! As I recall, it was because some hardware I/O devices required code execution to be synchronized with the physical operation of the device.

As for music, Xerox Sigma's running CP-V OS played the star spangled banner over their alarm speaker when you did a shutdown on them. Needless to say, there was no power off feature as part of shutdown...
