Retiree Email Accounts

Hello All,

I have been tasked with investigating how other institutions are handling
retiree email accounts.  We have had multiple requests for these types of
accounts recently and we still arenĀ¹t sure how we want to handle them.  I
was hoping that other folks on this list might have addressed this issue
already and I might be able gain a bit of insight into the issue that could
be applied at our institution.

A few of the major issues that I see right off the bat:

1. Do we allow them to use the same email account and archive/purge all of
their email that existed from when they were employed at the College?
2. Do we create a new account with a new email address that designates the
account as a retiree account?
3. How long should they have access to the retiree email (1 year, 2 years,
forever...)? 
4. Can they extend the use of the email account for a longer period of time?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
