Hi!

``Hackers & Painters'': Is this science? I think Graham's point by
multiple-times saying hacking is not science, but somehow an art, means
hackers don't need the formality of science to create (and by "maker" I
think he's trying to mean "creator"; where creator holds conceptual
abstraction+design+implementation). One quote only:

I like to compare hackers and scientists with architects and construction
builders. An architect can be an artist, but doesn't have to be one. Most
buildings are built using a few standard design rules, nothing artistic about
it. Only a few buildings are works of art. The same goes for programming.
Most programs are built around a few well known design principles. Only a few
programs are works of art.

Groetjes,
Peter.
