Well if you are in school as I am i would assume that you could talk
to career services and they could help you out. From some of our
alumni I have heard that CCNA can be useful, A+, Sec +, Net+, CISSP
after you meet the time requirement. That's just my 2 cents

Are all redhat certs specfic to the distro or does it expand onto a generic
linux background
