Hi all,

Perhaps replace monitoring with understanding?

Something like this:
"A honeypot is an information system resource that's
value lies in improving understanding of unauthorized
or illicit use of that resource"

You may want to consider replacing the personal pronoun
"whose" with that's. The pronoun is still a bit awkward.

I know: some people aren't using it for improving
understanding as such, however, that's what ends up
happening. For some people it turns into taking action
based upon that understanding (arresting warez operators),
for others a forensic exercise. In either case, the
resultant action need not be reflected in the definition.

Just my $0.02

Best,

- ---Steve
