Or would you think higher of someone that has job related experience?" Why not both? If you have the knowledge and experience, passing an exam should be a minimal hurdle. Certs are an opportunity to add another feather to your cap and differentiate yourself from other candidates. Check out GPEN and OSCP if you're looking for something more relevant and more highly respected.
