What if someone makes a cable for you so you can still enjoy the testing?

I think I have some USB cables I hacked up when I did my Xbox Cluster a few
years back. If I can find that your more than welcome to it. All I did was
hack the square end off to attach it to a normal Xbox cable end, allowing me
to use a keyboard on my Xboxs once I hacked them and installed Linux.

I may even have a 3.5mm jack end or two. I cant do this myself right now
due to work and classes (Finals next week) but I can surely locate the
hardware and set it aside for ya.

I'd honestly love to get into this stuff but my color-blindness would
probably make me go insane :)

Yeah, unfortunately, it will affect it. :-( The "stuff" in the middle,
is at a minimum a TTL level shifter. Pry that bad boy open and trace
the pinout to the chip specs :-)

It feels like it has just been sealed in rubber, it isn't a nice
plastic case unfortunately.

Or pick up an FTDI cable form LadyAda...

I'll give Tims idea a go and if not then I'll have a look at LadyAda.

Relatively simple
look at the diagram here http://pinouts.ru/Slots/USB_pinout.shtml
then use your multimeter to check continuity on the pins to the
existing
cable and you'll be able to tell which wire goes to which pin, then
you're
set.

I should have added, there is a bit of circuitry in the cable as well
that does come conversion - all I know is voltage dropping. Not sure
if that will affect it but I'll certainly give it a go.
