It's an e-mail and postal mail database for spammers.

And so is everything else -- submissions to this mailing list, as
an example.

If that's your only argument for injecting additional "privacy"
into the information available via WHOIS, that's pretty weak. :-)

Most all spam is being sent from bots, and the mailing list templates
are being populated with e-mail addresses from may, many places.

The concern that that WHOIS data is being used by spammers is
probably only slightly true, and even it is, it's really not
that big of a concern.
