Yes, it is a pretty sad commentary that a 16-year kid has access to
guns.

That's why I was asking the gun company in 2005 if they could trace the
serial number to see where the gun was originally purchased to try to
understand if the legit gun distribution system was supplying guns to
kids.
Maybe they have a dirty dealer on their hands. Do you know if gun
makers
ever do this kind of research?

BTW, in spite of this story, Massachusetts actually has one of the
lowest
gun murder rates in the country. I suspect this is true because
because we
also have one of the lowest gun ownership rates in the country.

---> I suspect it's true because we have a nice "concealed carry law"
that allows a law abiding citizen to carry a weapon after going through
a background check and receiving your permit. Florida is another good
example of this in action. If you were a bad guy, would you want to
hold up someone that you know could be armed? Hehe, I certainly
wouldn't :-)

Brian,

Gun manufacturers do not sell their guns to bad guys.

Somebody does. Attached is a 2005 email that I sent to executives at
Rugers about one of their products being "used" in my neighborhood. I

never got a reply. My assumption by the lack of reply is that these
executives weren't too interested in learning who their "customers"
really
are.........

I screwed up and read the damn article - go figure, a 16 year old who
can't
legally - by federal law - even be in possession of a handgun...
I guess laws don't work on criminals after all.
