Nathaniel, sorry for my delayed response. I could not find anything conclusive which says slack space is removed using the cipher wipe although there is some documentation which says this is the case. Is anyone else aware if this is the case?
Thanks, Don HALL, NATHANIEL D. wrote:

It runs in three passes filling up the entire disk. It is the /w switch with the volume so something like ‘cipher /w c:’. You could set this as a scheduled task (no additional software to install). We also recommend eraser and dban to customers depending on their need.Don Miller University of Idaho*From:* The EDUCAUSE Security Constituent Group Listserv [mailto:SECURITY () LISTSERV EDUCAUSE EDU] *On Behalf Of *Allison Dolan*Sent:* Wednesday, February 25, 2009 11:32 AM *To:* SECURITY () LISTSERV EDUCAUSE EDU *Subject:* [SECURITY] "Secure Delete" for Windows? The Mac has 'Secure Empty Trash' which securely deletes/"shreds" the files in the trash can. What you have found for the PC that is functionally similar, is easy to install/use, and is free or low cost?Allison F.
