Hello,

At HUC-JIR we have installed the Point Guard system (version 7.0), there are
some real Pro's and Con's to it. Most of the cons are vendor specific, like
limited vendor support locally, vendor availability. The product seems to
do what it should be expectations at the time of the sale versus what was
delivered have colored the install. The product can scale pretty well, but
it's almost more bang than we need here.

I would easily echo Ben's point, don't rush it and do the research!
John

We use Diebold's CSGold for our access system. There are card readers on
the outside of every residence hall and as needed on academic buildings and
other locations inside buildings. We still use keys on residence hall rooms
since the cost of adding card readers to every room, like hotels, is not
justifiable.

Be warned though that this solution is not a quick one to implement and
should involve considerable research as well as an extremely specific
service agreement.

We are researching door access control systems for possible implementation
in a building we are remodeling. I am looking for some help in identifying
potential systems. What door access control systems are some of you using?
Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
