Duston: I'm sure you already got some answers, but just in case...no, you cannot encrypt FAT32 filesystems on XP. I suggest you convert to NTFS utilizing the conversion utility and then you will be allowed to encrypt your file system on XP. Besides, you will have better security with the NTFS file system. There should be no reason to have a FAT or FAT32 file system on XP other than for recovery purposes if you have partitioned drives, etc. I strongly suggest you convert to NTFS and move forward. Slowly, but surely, Linux will have NTFS writing support. As of right now its still experimental in the kernel, however, I wouldn't be surprised if it begins working with reasonable sucess, and soon. Micrsoft apparently is also working on another file system, winfs. The only reasons I would even consider using FAT is a) Linux can write to FAT file systems, and b) DOS can read FAT file systems :) -Jack Nguy Duston Sickler wrote:The simple answer is no.
