Re: Botnets, IRC servers and firewalls?

In the last year or so, EVERY non-corporate windows machine
that I have come across that is or has a connection to the
internet has AT LEAST one bit of spyware, virus or trojan.

As I keep testifying myself -
A few years ago there was a paper which stated that 36 hours after a machine goes online, without any announcements - it gets "attacked" in some way (maybe just scanned).

Nowadays, especially if you are on broadband, you can get scanned up to 16 times a minute.

If you are using an un-protected windows box, especially if you are already seeded with one Trojan horse to provide with an easier entry point, it is very obvious that you are already in trouble.

Most consumers are so unprotected (and ignorant,
though that's not their fault) it's terrifying.

Whose fault is it than? :)
