RE: Possible new virus?

I'd actually look closer at the operating conditions. If the machines
were exposed to high humidity and temperature or a lot of dust they
could have decided to all choke out simultaneously.

Hail,--
In the original post the poster noted that he/she "wouldn't think twice if it hadn't happened to 3 computers from 3
different vendors in 2 days". What are the chances of three different CPU-fans (or whatever) in three different
systems dying natural deaths in 48 hours with the same BIOS message despite being from different vendors?...

Bootsector virus, perhaps?....

Do you know if the fans are still in fact running?

Thanks & Regards,

[snip]
cpu cooling fan is malfunctioning

Accompanying this is a high-pitched tone from the PC speaker.

Ahem...Perhaps a warning tone that YOUR COOLING SYSTEM HAS FAILED?? This is
not a security question, I'm not sure how it made it on to the list, but
please take it to a hardware support forum. Most likely the fan is full of
crud and has overloaded the fan header, try cleaning the fan, and swapping
to a different header.
