If your ICQ isn't yet updated by AOL to attach ads, you can prevent it happening. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mirabilis\ICQ\DefaultPrefs and change the Auto Update entry from yes to No. If your ICQ is already affected, there is an advanced & slow way to remove & disable the ads, but it involves recompiling .dlls etc. See http://www.taligentx.com/ for details. Best way is to revert to ICQ 99b or earlier.... http://members.home.net/red-chaos/icq99b.exe is one location, there are probably many others.
