I would also recommend http://www.dbsintl.com/ They are great. For example, the IRS called them and said one of my servers was cloning an IRS website (which it was) and they handled the situation without panic. They understand what we do and give you full access to your VMS for a great price. Also, 0 filtering. John On Mon, Jul 2, 2012 at 7:05 PM, Josh More <jmore () starmind org> wrote:
To through my completely-biased two cents in, I'd suggest you chat with the folks at http://www.infobunker.com/ . Yes, they are personal friends of mine (though I have no financial interest in their company). They have recently branched out into renting out dedicated blades (for those of us who don't need an entire rack of equipment.) I have had clients in their facility, and they are, frankly speaking, phenomenal. They're provide power, connectivity and physical security and are 100% hands off for everything else. Physical security is top notch, and unlike others, don't ask don't tell does NOT apply here. Just tell them that you want to rent a blade so you can run security assessments and pentests off of it, and it should be fine. It'll likely be somewhat more expensive than a VPS, but 1) I like supporting small businesses that provide good service and 2) without the V, VM Escape isn't an issue and shared hardware is much less of an issue. Anyway, they may not exactly what you're looking for, but I think they're worth considering in case you're a bit flexible. -Josh On Mon, Jul 2, 2012 at 1:37 PM, k41zen Me <k41zen () me com> wrote:Robin, This question has come up many times in another mailing list I'm amember ofand these three always get recommended for customers like us who run the tools that we do: 1) http://www.goscomb.net/ 2) http://www.linode.com/ 3) http://www.memset.com/ I've had personal experience with the last one and was open from theoutsetat what I needed them for and what tools I was running on them. I was thinking a dedicated server but trying to find a hosting company in the UK who would let me run tools is turning out to be hard. So I was wondering, am I going over board insisting on having a dedicated server or would I get away with a VPS? For my budget a VPS would be better but I don't want to get one then have an incident caused by another user of the box and be found to be negligent. What do other people think?
