Must be quite a successful franchise, or otherwise
hackers wouldn't hack so many machines at once. :p

Watching these things, it's pretty clear that there
really aren't any "hackers" involved. After all, it
doesn't take much more than a script kiddie running
automated tools to find systems w/ weak passwords, or
FTP sites that allow the anonymous user to write to
the drive.

And with regards to breaking into multiple machines
and franchising, there have been stories in the media
recently about people who create and sell botnets. So
people are making money by selling huge networks of
hundreds or thousands of infected systems to spammers, etc.
