..and why the media thinks software engineers are magic.  heck, look at 
everything invented by marketing departments before a line of code was 
written (or the software engineers were even consulted about feasibility).

If software engineers can pull off that kind of feat, surely they *must* 
be able to look at a crappy video stream and pull numbers out of their 
ass!  pshaw.. mere child's play compared to dealing with marketing 
selling vaporware!  ;-)
