I don't think that the American political system is that bad, actually.  
There's certainly many worse, such as Saudi, Iran, China and Zimbabwe. I
wouldn't say that their political system is a laughing-stock (although
their president is often good for a laugh). The US system is certainly in
the top 100 political systems in the world, maybe even in the top 30.

I don't actually know whether I disagree with his political views, but 
he's almost certainly to the left of my views, simply because most 
people, including right-wing rednecks, are.
