3. Can you get some of this information by other means like pollingrouters for NDP information (the IPv6 equivalent of ARP)?This is the path our networking guys want to use. Makes sense to me.
This is the path we're headed down for the wired network. We use netdisco. netdot is another option. That allows us to map an IPv4/IPv6 address to a physical switch port. I've also generally assumed we'd end up turning off SLAAC at some point in the not too distant future and run DHCPv6 (recognizing that there are client support issues). I don't think I hear anything here that tells me this is a bad idea.
