How does everyone balance their “need to know” of system/network outages with their relationship with local media and/or campus students, faculty, and staff? Do you send out broadcast emails, have a hotline, or, post outages on a webpage?
Todd - we do a combination of the above. We have a hard schedule of maintenance windows for the 2009 - 2010 academic years posted on our support site and send out emails in the weeks ahead of those maintenance windows announcing the projected outage time and the services affected.
