- thinking about outsourcing

- Packeteer restricts b/w to Internet.

some

> 5. How many users are connected in res halls?
7,500 students plus a few staff.

Only on registration. Custom registration/worm scan/patch code.

> 7. Are user machines inspected before connection is allowed?
Yes, windows only.

> 8. Are res halls bound by Service Level Agreements / Policies?
No SLA. AUP exists.

> 9. What is the guaranteed uptime of res halls (if a guarantee is made
at all)?
Not guaranteed, but outages addressed 24x7.

> 10. Are res halls supported by the institute helpdesk, or does the
res hall have its own helpdesk?.
University helpdesk (not separate)

> 11. What is the demarcation point for responsibility to the institute
(switch port, wall jack)?
wall jack.

> 12. What are the policy (if policy exists) actions for gross network
abuse?
- rogue devices removed,
- misbehaving machines put into quarantine network
