Re: Question regarding Marketscore spyware

Hi,

Here is the problem as I see it with just blocking them from our campus .. the company COMSCORE.com owns Marketscore.
Comscore is a provider of network access
information and is quoted in publications and used by market research companies to provide information and statistics
on web access. I have seen them quoted
in many different places. They claim to have over 2 million subscribers that they are using to collect this data. If
you block them at the edge, then you
basically fall off the web as far as their statistics are concerned. Since there were less than 150 Columbia people
infected, we figured it would be better to
ask them to fix their machines then to block the 1.99 million or so surfers.

I did not want Columbia University to be know at the University with no web access :-)

We are blocking them from our financial/HR application only, everything else is available.

Just my humble opinion.
