Hey Ron,

Even though you asked for GSEC, my query is generic to GIAC
certifications. I need to ask about the road-map it suggests:
- - Is it mandatory to follow the LEVELS in sequence?
- - What these levels actually stand for?

I am into Security Research for Vulnerabilities/Hack Attacks & have
interest in the following GIAC certs:

1. GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)- LEVEL 4
2. Stay Sharp Program - Mastering Packet Analysis (SSP-MPA) - LEVEL 4
3. GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA)- LEVEL 5
4. GIAC Intrusion Prevention (GIPS) - LEVEL 5
5. GIAC Cutting Edge Hacking Techniques (GHTQ) - LEVEL 5
6. GIAC Web Application Security (GWAS)- LEVEL 5
7. GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM)- LEVEL 6

So, is it necessary to complete #1 (GSEC) before #4 (GIPS), so forth and
so on...
And, even I want to go for material/books as training courses are not
available here in INDIA for any GIAC certs. Later, once all set, I will
attend the conference before taking the exam.

Thanks to K. Brian, and Mike Hale for some insight!

Securely yours'
