Actually, you are looking at two problems. Yes the first one is integrity
but the second one is information overload and lack of follow-up. When
people hear information from a perceived authority, they tend to belive the
information without question. This is why social viruses such as Good
Times and Win a Holiday have survived for so many years.

So the question is not so much if the vendor repeated the Gauntlet claims,
the issue is if the vendor knew the truth but decided to play along
anyway. This would make the problem a true "integrity" issue. Otherwise,
you are simply dealing with poor follow up.
