Is anyone currently providing students, faculty, staff and/or alumni
'email for life'? If so how is this facilitated? In-house or third
party. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

We provide "email for life" for students who graduate. The implementation
errs on the side of simplicity: just keep their accounts active until
evidence shows they haven't been reading email (this doesn't consider
those who forward).

There are longer term issues we still need to consider, and plans for
a new architecture is planned (yes, a plan for the plan...). But, for the
near future, the "email for life" accounts exist on the same mail systems
as current falculty/staff/students and subject to the same features and
restrictions as regular accounts.
