This does not necessary mean that your email has been compromised
(although it is a valid option). What could have happened is that
someone sent  emails using your address and some random smtp. The
mails failed and then you received the mailer-daemon notifications.
Remember that you don't have to own an email address to send emails
from that address. The problem is if the recipient server accept your
emails (and for that we have SPF)

Is this some sort of joke?  At least ten people have replied giving
exactly the same advice.  I think our guy understands by now.
