Do you remember ANSI bombs? ANSI control codes would tell the terminal how the text should be represented. It's a bit more powerful than it really needs to be, hence the exploitation. The ultimate trojan is a peice of text considered inert... in fact, they're /still/ workable, just there's more screening going on now.
