Hi Ben,We're not running on Dell hardware IIRC, it's OEM'd on Network Engines appliances in this particular instance. Support is handled by Sourcefire as well, this is just a partnership to sell Sourcefire products through Dell's existing e-commerce site. Sourcefire's appliances ship on our own OEM'd hardware as well as on Sun v60x/v65x and IBM eServer chassis currently.

I'm not big on any flavor of unix being billed as 1337 or whatever... but my experience with dell is that they suck. And so does their hardware. And so does their support. In fact, if I can possibly avoid it, I will never do any business with them at all. These were all personal transactions, perhaps they are better when you buy corporate level equipment, but I doubt it. I don't have the time or patience to detail my various run ins with them, but I wouldn't bank on them having a clue about anything, except the art of delay. Just my bored 2 cents. RedHat or OpenBSD; lets see for official support, what would youchoose? My choice would be RedHat, hands down over OpenBSD. Better OS wellthat's personal choice.Bottom line is that Dell definitely has a clue and has put there money inthe right platform for their particular purpose.
