What do you with scan alerts

Hi All, 
What do you normally do with scans that you get on
your network, should I mail them to responsible ISP or
univeristy etc. or should I keep ignoring them.

If I ignore them than it kinda defeats the purpose of
snort outside firewall. Wanted to know what others are
doing about proxy scans and other script hack
attempts.
