That degrees do you have?

I was registered to go through the PhD program in 2006 but then last
minute changed jobs and went on a different path. At the time it was
the only "online" MIS PhD degree that was accredited.

I didn't feel dirty like I did when I spoke with some of the other
universities.

I'm looking at either a PhD in Computer Information Systems (InfoSec
concentration), or a Doctor of Science in Information Systems. I'm
waiting on a few details to shake out on the DSci program before I
make a final decision.

The PhD program is a distance learning program offered by Nova
Southeastern University, while the DSci program will be offered by
the
university I currently teach for, on an adjunct basis. The DSci
program hasn't received final approval yet from our board of Regents,
but I'm pretty sure it will, with a projected start of fall semester
2010.

For me, the DSci probably makes the most sense. I'm told I'll get
credit for my prior masters coursework, which means fewer classes to
take. I also hope to be able to teach there while in school, while
receiving some type of tuition credit / teaching stipend.

Thanks

Andy and Dan,

I would like some info as well. I'm also finishing up a Masters in
Computer Engineering specializing in Information Assurance and I
don't
have a whole lot of faith in my local university's ability to
support
some good technical research for a doctorate. I'm considering all
options right now. I've tossed around a handful of topics, but
nothing seems to stick with my faculty. I might need to look at
another university.

I understand the view that post-grad degrees might not bring the
monetary value you would expect, but this is more of a personal goal
than chasing a bigger paycheck. My experience is that most of the
upper degrees in MIS, CS, or Computer Engineering are leaving the
country to go back home after completing the degree. So I can see a
need for such degrees in the future.

I'm teaching undergrad infosec courses at a local university.
I've
got a Masters in Information Systems, and an undergrad
certificate in
InfoSec. I hope to be starting my doctorate work in the next
year.

I'm curious, what degrees do some of you have? I'm interested in
finding a
job teaching infosec, so if you teach I'd really like to hear
what
credentials you have.
