When without ssh for irssi, I use Xchat (silverex build) and either
geany (simple editor with enough features for me, crossplatform) or
syn for editing. Haven't used much notepad++.

Hello,

I know this is a bit off of the security topic. Can anyone
recommend a good
free Windows based IRC client and a good free Windows based text
editor that
would be good for writing/editing Perl and Python scripts.

Thank you,

Jody
