Ideas for Securing my FTP Server

If you do decide to move to a Linux/BSD server I highly suggest using
VSftpd (Red Hat, OpenBSD, and SuSE are all using this on their FTP
sites).
Plenty of guides available for hardening this (since it was made for
the security minded).

I should have given a little bit more info:
Platform: Windows XP Pro
Using Serv-U FTP Server

I'm new to the linux world, so setting up an ftp server up and running might
be challenging experience. I might have to do this since Daemonshield looks
awesome and will do exactly what I need.? I might just start looking into
ubuntu.

Thanks
