I just have to say one thing:

Saying that Java is nice because it works on all OS is like saying

one can use GTK for Java for the interface. I think java is popular
enough that a JRE exists on almost every machine, and if it doesn't
exist then it isn't  that big (12 - 16 MB) to download.
