Both NLR and Internet2 announced they are providing gigabits of bandwidth for GENI prototyping. Recall that GENI is an NSF-funded effort to build a national facility for advanced research in communications, networking, distributed systems, cyber-security and networked services and applications. The GENI Project Office announced a last week that it had received $12M in funding for initial risk reduction prototyping and plans to announce soon (late August) how it has awarded that money to subcontractors along with the details of how the prototyping will be done.
