According to all reports, there are 20k+ people in the area that don't
want the people placing IEDs there either, which is why they joined

Given the staggering mortality rate of Iraqi police (not to mention the
massive absenteeism, and non-compliance with orders when they actually
are on the job), there are MUCH stronger factors driving Iraqi police
volunteers. Many (probably most) don't want the job given the
likelihood of a messy death or horrible maiming in the near future, but
are "forced" into taking it because of the otherwise near total
collapse of the rest of their economy, caused in no small part by
"your" glorious liberation and rebuilding efforts.

To suggest that more than a trifling handful of Iraqi police recruits
sign up because they believe it is the "right thing to do for the
greater good" or somesuch patriotic BS reason is the same kind of
moronic nonsense that led Rummie, Dubya, Buckshot and their esteemed
advisors to expect that the US forces would parade into Baghdad as
conquering heroes, welcomed by all and sundry for relieving them of the
burden of Saddam and his cronies.

You really should consume something more than US right-leaning, pro-
militaristic-cum-corporatist media coverage of Iraq, whose biases
simply reflect and reinforce your own preconceptions and biases. If
you did you would have a hint of the mess that "you" have made of that
country and the massive problems brewing in and around it that are
mostly directly attributable to "your" grossly ill-conceived actions.
If you did and you were the thinking man you like to portray yourself
as, you would express yourself in quite different terms than you
currently do.
