Virginia Tech.

The police managed to get the doors open and head in while the gunfire
was still going on. There's reason to believe that Cho offed himself
when he did (since there were still potential victims to be had) because
he knew the police were heading up the stairs.

I would imagine you are in a better position to know that I am, but
EVERY news report I've read specifically states that the police did
not enter until the shooting was over. Those that mentioned it also
stated that he was essentially out of ammo when he killed himself. If
the news got it wrong, fine, I'll stand corrected.

It essentially has no bearing on my argument anyway, since he was dead
- by his own hand - before he was ever confronted.

The reasons police do not enter in such situations are numerous
ranging from the difficulty of identifying a perp amongst scared
victims and the litigiousness of our society. But if you are depending
on the police for your safety you deserve the safety you get - NONE.
Everyone here knows, I'm sure, that I think gun free zones just tell
would-be killers where to begin their rampage, but that's not the only
problem I have with these situations. Perhaps I'm a complete asshole
but I'm one of those people that can't believe flight 93 (I believe it
was, the last one that crashed in Penn.) ended in the death of all
aboard. They waited too long and didn't do enough - even though many
were very aware of what was likely to happen. To me all of these
incidents are examples of our society not creating self-reliant
citizens, and the pussification of all of us but especially our young
boys.

For god's sake, they don't even allow you to play dodge ball in school
anymore - what do you expect?!?
