You can't use deadly force to defend property here, either.  And that's 
"property" in the land and stuff sense.  You can only use deadly force 
to defend life and limb.  It should be fairly easy to make a case that 
someone breaking into your house means to do you bodily harm, though. 
Especially if you're the only one left who can testify.
