Gary Funck to Randy Abrams:

That said, later this month (and beyond) the MS Malicious software removal
tool will start tracking infection rates. This is likely to be a
fairly good indicator.

Good point, but regarding Microsoft's malware removal program, I
un-installed
it because it seemed to me that it found every kind of malware except the
stuff
that ended up on my daughter's PC, and most of the other minor labels like
Adaware and Ewido did a _much_ better job.

Ummmmm....

Are you confusing things -- the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal
Tool (shipped monthly with the other Patch Tuesday "gifts") with
Microsoft AntiSpyware (formerly Giant AS) -- or are you just making a
general non-sequiter (confusing the traditional use of "malware" with
the rather butchered, "all-inclusive except for the things it would be
beneficial for us to not include" usage of it some of the Johnny-cum-
lately "anti-spyware" vendors seem to have adopted, _then_ muddling up
what that has to do with the purposes and intent of the Microsoft
Malicious Software Removal Tool)?

Nick FitzGerald
