Can can temporarily install Psi, and get there yourself if you prefer. 
He made the account for me, but then I still couldn't change my password 
with Adium (and I think iChat has the same limitation.)  I had to get 
psi anyway to change my password.  Once done, though, you can use your 
chat program of choice for the chatting bit.
