Within SUNY Buffalo we’re using a product called Lansweeper - https://www.lansweeper.com/.

There’s many features that this product has, including reporting, software inventories and deployments, asset
management, etc. There’s even optional help desk components if needed.

There are multiple modes of operation such that you can run this agentless if your security standards call for this.
If you install the agent or configure a limited permission account, functionality and reporting capabilities increase.
You can also create user defined fields which we then leverage to map data classification and regulatory compliance to
each server.

We pretty much do this manually now, but would also like to hear what others may be using.

Thank you!

I’m wondering what everyone else is using to gather and maintain a server asset inventory. Manual processes or
something automated? If automated, what are you using, what kind of data does it report on, what do you like or not
like about the tool?

Thanks,
