Re: Paging - How do you receive?

We use pagers so we our cellphones can remain mostly personal. . .the
University no longer reimburses most people for any portion of their
cellphone bill.

Also, it's lets us have 'groups'. We each have an individual pager number
which is kept internally and one number which will page them all and is given
out for emergencies while on call.

Most of us have cell phones these days. Currently we send e-mails to
the address that makes our phones receive a text message. One of the
biggest problems, however, is that several of our technicians (including
myself) do not get good cell coverage where we live and/or travel each
day.

We found that generally, our pagers were dependent on the same carriers
as our cell phones, i.e. when one didn't have service, neither did the
other. So rather than carry two devices, our group has reverted to
receiving pages on our cell phones.

"There has grown up in the minds of certain groups in this
country the notion that because a man or corporation has made
a profit out of the public for a number of years, the
government and the courts are charged with the duty of
guarunteeing such profit in the future, even in the face of
changing circumstances and contrary public interest. This
strange doctrine is not supported by statute nor common law.
Neither individuals nor corporations have any right to come
into court and ask that the clock of history be stopped, or
turned back, for their private benefit. That is all."
