Re: Initial Response to RIAA/MPAA Complaints

"Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We will take appropriate
action to end any violation."

I recently inherited this process at our school.  Our process is OK, but I
am trying to make sure we are complying with the requirements without
overburdening my staff.  I have been able to find good information on the
web about the processes that various schools are using when handling these
complaints.  However, I have been unable to find a sample text of a generic
response letter that says we have received the complaint and we will process
the complaint per our process.  Maybe that's all it needs to be?

If schools are saying more than that, what is the balance point between
complying with the DMCA safe-harbor rules, and not handing (or suggesting
that you technically could hand) over the identities of the student behind
the names IP address?

I am sure that DMCA has been discussed here to death, but this is one piece
of the process that I have not run across.
