I usually send this response:

"We have taken the necessary actions in regard to this alleged
violation."

Subject: [SECURITY] Initial Response to RIAA/MPAA Complaints

Would anyone be willing to share with me the letter/e-mail your school
uses
to respond to an initial RIAA/MPAA complaint?

I recently inherited this process at our school. Our process is OK,
but I
am trying to make sure we are complying with the requirements without
overburdening my staff. I have been able to find good information on
the
web about the processes that various schools are using when handling
these
complaints. However, I have been unable to find a sample text of a
generic
response letter that says we have received the complaint and we will
process
the complaint per our process. Maybe that's all it needs to be?

If schools are saying more than that, what is the balance point
between
complying with the DMCA safe-harbor rules, and not handing (or
suggesting
that you technically could hand) over the identities of the student
behind
the names IP address?

I am sure that DMCA has been discussed here to death, but this is one
piece
of the process that I have not run across.

Thanks in advance,
