For faculty and staff, we grant them 30 days to access their mail in
order to retrieve any contacts or personal mail they may have.    If
their dept head or the individual requests, we will delete it on their
last day.  Anyone who is fired is automatically deleted on the spot. 

 

The only forwarding we provide for mail is within our organization to an
addressed designated by their dept heads.  If a user asks to have their
mail forwarded to their home address it is denied.

What are other universities granting their faculty and staff for length
of account access to e-mail, if they leave the university on good terms
in light of HIPAA and FERPA rules?
