The following apply to both faculty and staff

Involuntary separation - I am notified by HR prior to separation
meeting, we disable access during meeting

Voluntary separation - Our Help Desk runs a daily report which lists who
has separated in the past 24 hours and accounts are immediately
disabled, then go through our standard deletion process.

Students - Accounts are active until a student is not enrolled for 6
consecutive months. This is primarily in place to deal with our adult
learner program in which students are more likely to take a term off.

Subject: [SECURITY] E-mail Account Termination Length

What are other universities granting their faculty and staff for length
of account access to e-mail, if they leave the university on good terms
in light of HIPAA and FERPA rules?
