Goodness!  I'm shocked! -- I thought it was just my kids.

I also have problems with false ACKs, with subsequent repudiation --
acknowledgement that message was received when subsequent events
indicate it never was and the recipient vigorously denies it was ever
delivered.

Not to mention the audio/visual special effects that only decrease the
signal-to-noise ratio. One may hope that soon enough they might move off to
one of your fine institutions and leave the answering machine to return to its
rightful occupation ;-)
