If you are talking about Capitol College, I had someone in my last class who lived attended class from China. One of the teachers actually taught a few classes while he was travelling in Australia and some other country. Just remember the time zone and you must attend the Synch (Live) classes. I believe the degree has been renamed to M.S. in Information Assurance. I have many years of experience in network and computer security so I found the curriculum pretty easy, but definitely valuable in that it hits all aspects of security and also hits pretty much all the different parts of the CISSP. The broad range of security topics allowed me to expand on what I knew and learn about some topics that I was aware of but never really dove into. My buddy is currently in the degree program now at Capitol College and he really likes it as well. He just received his CISSP and is impressed how this degree is hitting various aspects of it. The degree can be taken 100% online, so it is extremely convenient. Classes are pretty much once a week for about 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours. There is a large military presence in the classes which was valuable to me since most of my experience has been commercial, although I have also worked various government gigs. Good luck!!! d3nw0 On Thu, 2008-05-08 at 16:23 -0700, Mark Dy-Ragos wrote:Greetings All, I'm doing some research on the different masteral degrees available for Information Security or Information Assurance. There seem to be so many different options and paths available that I'd like to solicitmember feedback on the topic. Below is a summary of what I'm looking at: 1. My goal for now is to get good comprehensive education around relevant security topics. 2. There's a long list of NSA accredited centers listed here: http://www.nsa.gov/ia/academia/caemap.cfm?MenuID=10.1.1.2. What's lacking though is an objective review of each college's offering and the cost. 3. Price of the program is definitely a factor. I'm sure I stand to learn a lot from these programs, but are they worth the investment? Would love to hear the feedback of other members, especially those whohave taken a masteral course.
