Well, my professor in Computer Security during last term said that TODAY
8 is the minimal security password.
A "safe" password should be made of at least 8 characters with a mix of
a-z,A-Z,0-9,special.

Im just curious... do you have the statistics for:

A 6 character (a-z, A-Z, 0-9,special) password can be cracked in less

A 7 character (a-z, A-Z, 0-9,special) password can be cracked in less

My server is set to 6 and was thinking of setting it higher.

8 seems to be a minimal barrier and I thought it would take much

crack them, which is why I am now concerned about 6 and 7.
